Best Luxury Watch Winders
If you only have one manual (automatic) watch which is manual, you might need a watch winder, which is a watch box that rotates the watch keeping the winding mechanism going.
Why do you need a watch winder? Well, I own a Rolex Explorer 2 and only wear it once or twice per month. If it’s not in a winder box, it would stop and I would have to reset the time each time I want to wear it . This means you are continually unscrewing the crown which will lead to wear and tear.
Below are the best luxury watch winder on the market for single and multiple watch collections.
Barrington Single Watch Winder
Barrington entered the watch winder market after seeing a gap in the market between the cheap Ebay boxes and bespoke boxes. There were very few options for a good looking, well made watch winder at a reasonable price.
Barrington brought in a team of designers and created a range of beautiful boxes, powered by ultra quiet Japanese Mabuchi motors.
The Barrington winder comes in a range of different colours .
The only thing I don’t like about this watch winder is the fact that the watch is not protected behind any glass, it just sticks out waiting to be knocked. This is fine unless you have small children who are likely to put sticky fingers all over it.
Wolf have been making watches boxes and winders since 1834. They are one of the top companies in the watch winder industry and have offices in London, Los Angeles and Kong Kong.
The Windsor box will do 900 turns per day to keep the watch mechanisms moving. You watch sits in a holder which can then be viewed through the glass front when closed.
The box can powered by either batteries or AC mains, dimensions are: 16.5CM L X 17.8CM W X 13.3CM H
The Wolf Meridian has the same patented winding mechanism as the Windsor, but gives you three of them.
The box is made of solid wood and comes in three colour options: Black, Burlwood or Blonde
Unlike Barrington’s single watch winder, their 6-watch winder keeps them safely behind security glass. Each of the silent motors can be adjusted for rotation speed and direction.
The Barrington 6-watch winder also comes with a remote control, so you can sit on your bed, set them to rotate and admire your collection.
If you have a collection of 12 luxury watches of significant value and were considering a home safe, this watch winder box is perfect.
The safe consists of 12 watch holders and rotating winders that sit behind tempered glass. The box is made of stainless steel and can be secured to wall. It also features a full alarm system, pin codes and activation cards – but it will cost you over 3 grand!
